1952-1999 Sister of Garden of Peace committee member Ruth Feldman. Norma was loved by friends and her co-workers at Filene’s in Burlington, where a tree was planted in her memory. She and her sister Ruth grew up in New Bedford but spent much of their adult lives in the Boston area. They were extremely close and became closer after the death of their parents. Over the years, they shared their joys and their pain. They looked forward to growing old together. On August 24, 1999, just 2 days after she and Ruth visited their parents’ grave, Norma was brutally bludgeoned to death by her husband of 21 years. He was convicted of her murder and sentenced to life without possibility of parole. Norma is remembered for making people laugh, and for her loyalty to friends and family.
