Most of
the members
of the Garden
of Peace
Board
of Directors
have lost
someone
to homicide.
But we have
dedicated
our time
for all
the homicide
victims
of Massachusetts
- the victims
who are
sometimes
forgotten
by all but
their families.
Our loved
ones were
killed one-by-one,
not in one
horrific
public disaster.
And even
though there
are tens
of thousands
of such
victims,
somehow
their solitary
deaths makes
it easier
for them
to be forgotten
by society.
But their
families
and friends
have not
forgotten.
Like the
survivors
of the victims
of September
11, Oklahoma
City and
Columbine,
at the end
of the day
we have
an empty
place in
our families
and in our
hearts that
will never
be filled.
This Garden,
and the
support
that it
has gotten
from the
Governor,
the legislature
and the
public,
gives us
hope that
our loved
ones will
be remembered.
